Dr Ramesh Banduwardene completed his Doctor of Medicine at Pavlov First St. Petersburg State Medical University, Russia, in 2000.
Prior to moving to Australia in 2006, he worked as a Mental Health Medical Officer in Sri Lanka, including at the Military Hospital. From 2006 to 2008 he held positions with Queensland Health as a Principal House Officer in Psychiatry and with Eastern Health in Victoria as a Psychiatry Registrar. During this time he gained extensive experience managing mental health patients in acute and non-acute inpatient and outpatient settings, including with the Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team (CATT) at Eastern Health and the Acute Care Team at Queensland Health, Logan.
Since 2009, Dr Ramesh has practised in General Practice with a special interest in Mental Health. He has completed RACGP training in Drug and Alcohol Medicine to further support patients with complex needs.
He holds General Registration with the Australian Medical Council and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2012.
